WELCOME TO WEBSITE OF PASTOR O. I. OGEDEGBE

Sunday 10th August, 2014

Today God is about to speak to us. Our message today is taken from the Book of Ezekiel 37:1-14. The topic of our message today is: “Dry Bones Shall Rise Again.” Tell your neighbour, “Dry bones shall live again.” You can say it shall rise or it shall live. It’s still the same thing.

1The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.

The Spirit of the Lord came upon Prophet Ezekiel and it lifted him from where he was and set him in valley. We all know what is a valley. In geography, a valley is a land between two hills. A mountain on this side, another mountain on this side. That middle of the mountains that is low is called a valley. He said, “The Spirit of the Lord put me in this valley and when I arrived at this valley, (the Bible says) it was full of bones.” It was bad enough for this man to come to the point of the valley. It was bad enough; yet when he got to that valley, it was full of bones. I want to read on.

2He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.

The bones were very dry. And the Bible says the bones were very many.

3He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign LORD, you alone know.”

God asked him a simple question. He said, “Do you think, my son Prophet Ezekiel, do you think that these dry bones can live again?” The man was confused. He said, “How can these dry bones that are very many, that are very dry, how can they live?” He said, “Okay. God, I don’t know, but it is only You that know if they can live.”

4Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'”

He said, “The solution, the remedy to this situation is for you to prophesy.” Although you don’t know how dry bones can come back to life, He said, “But son of man, you have a work to do.” He said, “Your work in this matter is to prophesy.” It is only prophecy that can bring dead situation back to life. It is only prophecy that can resurrect dead situation, that can resurrect dead circumstance… He said, “I will cause flesh to come upon you and I will cause breath, the breath of life to enter into you and you will live.”

What are the dry bones in our lives today? Any circumstance you find yourself in life that is unpleasant, any circumstance you find yourself in life that is not too good, that doesn’t make you feel happy, that circumstance is referred to as dry bone. If you are experiencing tough poverty, it is dry bone. If you are experiencing a sickness that refuses to go away, it is dry bone. If you are experiencing one form of delay or the other in marriage or in your career, it is dry bone. And I bring you the good news this morning that every dry bone in your life, every dry bone in your family, it shall rise again this morning in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Bible says the dry bones were very many and very dry. There’s something I noticed all over the world. It doesn’t matter the continent you come from, whether you are from Africa or from Europe. It doesn’t matter your continent, it doesn’t matter your country. I have found that something is common with everyone, whether black or white in this world and it is problem. No matter where you are, no matter the country you come from, one thing is common with all humanity: it is problem. The dry bones are very many. The challenges people are facing all over the world, they are very many and very dry, that is, very tough. Before Nigeria was battling with the problem of Boko Haram. Now it has turned to Ebola. You find dry bones everywhere in one form or the other. So Ebola is a dry bone. Sickness is a dry bone. And the Bible tells me sickness is a stranger. It says the strangers shall fade away and be afraid and come out of their hiding places. So every stranger in your life, every dry bone in your life, they shall fade away this morning. They have no option but to fade away in Jesus’ name.

7So I prophesied as I was commanded.

This man obeyed. God said, “Your duty to do is to prophesy.” He said, “The only duty you have to do in this valley, the reason why I brought you from Israel to this valley of dry bones, the reason why I brought you from where you were to these dry bones is to prophesy.”

7So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

At least one solution has come. The Bible says, “I prophesied as I was commanded and as I was looking, behold, I heard a noise and, behold, a bone began to locate its bone.” The leg bone began to locate where it was. The hand bone began to locate where it was. And the Bible says after bone came to its bone, flesh covered them. But that wasn’t enough. Tell your neighbour, “That wasn’t enough.” But there was no breath in them. Anything that has taken breath away from your life, anything that has made your life to look like dead, I command the resurrection power of God to enter your life now, to enter your family now, to enter your business now, to enter your marriage now, to enter your career now, to enter your village. Let the resurrection power of God enter and locate every dry bone in your life this morning in the mighty name of Jesus.

9Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.'” 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

God said, “Your work has not finished.” He said, “Although you have prophesied and flesh has entered into them, now you are going to prophesy again. Prophesy to the wind…” I decree now. I speak to the breath to enter your family, the breath of life to enter your family, to enter your village, to enter your destiny, to enter your career, to enter this ministry, to enter every part, every area of your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Anything that is dead, they cannot withstand the breath of life. As the breath of life comes upon you, I decree and I declare anything that is dead, anything that they have buried of your possession, they are coming back to life in the mighty name of Jesus.

11Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.”

He said, “Son of man, I don’t want you, Prophet Ezekiel, I don’t want you when you go back to Israel from this valley you will tell them that you only saw bones.” He said, “I want to explain to you the meaning of the vision.” He said, “These dry bones, they are the whole house of Israel. These dry bones, they are the citizens of the world. These dry bones, they are the people of God.” He said, “But listen, every dry bone is coming back to life this morning in the mighty name of Jesus.”

11They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ 12Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.’

God is bringing you back to your promised land. God is bringing you back to your destiny. God is bringing you back to your blessing. God is bringing you back to your breakthrough. He is bringing you back to appointment, to favour and blessing in Jesus’ name.

13‘Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.’

Let’s sing this song:

Dry bones shall rise again (4×)
Yes, Jehovah, He is able to do all things
He’s able, able
Dry bones shall rise again.

Poem

Who dreamed that sun sets at noon?
For these red lips, like a musical moon,
Shine early but fade soon,
Kefee passed away in life’s final sleep,
And Urhobo’s great daughter died.
